Social Personality Judgment & The Work Of Internet Marketing Firms

By Robert Sutter

Are you able to figure out a person's individual attitude from the way that they act online alone? It's almost impossible to do so, since there is very little access to elements like tone and sarcasm. Even still, the idea of gauging someone's personality through social media is an interesting idea and it is one that Five Labs has recently tackled. For those who are curious about this particular endeavor, I am sure that many Internet marketing firms will be able to tell you more about it.

According to an article on Business Insider, Five Labs created a tool that will work in tandem with Facebook. Specifically, the tool in question will be able to search through the posts that others have made in order to gauge their personalities. Of course, there are specific components to take into account and Internet marketing firms across the board would be able to agree. After all, this tool has to be measured on something and there are many elements to consider.

The report detailed that a method based on a University of Pennsylvania study was utilized in order to make this program come to fruition. Personality traits, based on the aforementioned program, are measured by the traits seen in psychology today. What this means is that a collection of extroversion, openness, neuroticism, conscientiousness, and agreeableness could, in theory, gauge an individual's personality. How accurate is this, though, and can it be built upon?

I am not too sure if anyone can make the claim that this program is as accurate as it can be. Reputable firms such as fishbat may tell you that since a program like this is very new, there are bugs and kinks that may have to be worked out in the future. With that said, Five Labs has a strong idea on its hand and I am sure that it will be worked on and made better in due time. Internet marketing firms may agree with the idea that this digital tool's potential will be reached in the future.

It's clear that this is an interesting idea on the part of Five Labs and I am sure that many in the social media realm will be able to agree. However, with an idea like this still being very young, the potential for it to grow is present. It's just a matter of how much Five Labs is willing to work in order to make this as effective as possible. Judging by the fact that there isn't another tool that is able to gauge one's personality to this extent, it's likely that this will see improvements in the future.
