Key Qualities Of A Competent Scrum Instructor

By Richard Rogers

The process of learning and developing new skills is continuous and cannot stop at any point in one's career life. This is so due to the constant desire of acquiring better skills to enable the tackling of work-related challenges. It thus demands one to learn from competent fellows. However, meeting such fellows is increasingly becoming a tricky task owing to the idea that most people, even the unqualified ones still claim to be the best instructors. It is thus advisable that you check if your potential scrum instructor posses some of the following qualities.

The trainer should have proper researching skills. Research skills will enable the tutor to discover advanced learning facilities as well as extract current information that is relevant for the study. This, in turn, will guarantee that learners will receive quality knowledge and skills that are not only advanced but updated as well.

See if the lecturer can express his ideas well. This will incorporate the ability of the teacher to communicate efficiently with his students. For active learning to take place, the teacher should be able to pass information accurately to learners. This means, therefore, that communication is a critical factor for one to consider in selecting potential tutors.

Similarly, when he communicates well with his trainees, he can develop a closer relationship with them, and thus sharing of ideas will be enhanced. This close relation is responsible for enabling the tutor to understand student weaknesses and therefore, coming up with corrective measures becomes easier. With this kind of environment, you can be assured that students are going to gain more from their trainer.

Ensure the mentor is flexible enough. Mentors can exhibit their flexibility by showing their willingness to adjusting several learning programs such as teaching timetable. The chosen time for teaching should be one which is favorable to both parties. For instance, you are not to consider tight and rigid timeframes because they may inconvenience you in pursuing other daily activities.

Therefore, to accommodate your adjustments adequately, your trainer needs to involve you in allocating time and scheduling of class events. The most favorable time for assigning your learning hours can be when you are free from your chores, such as in the evening or days such as weekends. When learning is arranged in this manner, then the process is anticipated to run smooth.

Consider an experienced tutor. Having a long-time exposure in the teaching industry can equip the trainer with skills that can be harnessed for the benefit of trainees. To determine this, you can check the period which your trainer has been working. However, you are cautioned about ignoring fellows who started working recently because they may also possess relevant knowledge that one can find useful.

Give priority to a licensed trainer. Licensing signifies that the person in possession is registered by the state and is allowed to offer his or her services to the public. Registered mentors are less likely to engage in unlawful activities; this makes them more favorable. Attempting to invest your resources in an unregistered organization is risky because you stand a chance of getting conned.
