Ideas For Unique Holiday Wreaths Lawrence Kansas Homeowners Hang With Pride

By Andrew Walker

The holidays are a time for a lot of things, including trying your hand at creative projects you would normally avoid. There is something about the season that encourages the purchase of arts and crafts books and glue guns. You might be disappointed with some results, but it's easy to master holiday wreaths Lawrence Kansas designing homeowners will envy.

If you're one of those people who still subscribes to and reads print magazines, then has trouble throwing them away, making a magazine wreath is a good project. You don't need many supplies, but you will have to sacrifice some magazine pages. Cutting out the little squares is the most time consuming part of the project. It can be accomplished while you are doing something else, like watching TV.

Along the same lines, you might recycle your old greeting cards, instead of throwing them away, by creating a holly designed card wreath. You'll need plenty of old cards and a holly shaped stencil to make the individual leaves uniform. All you have to do is affix the card leaves to a wreath form making sure you have covered the form with a luxurious amount of the leaves.

If you have access to some old neckties, you can make a unique and creative wreath design by cutting the ties up and folding them over a donut form. If you're using ties that belong to a relative, it's a good idea to get permission to destroy their neck wear. Otherwise you can pick them up for next to nothing at thrift stores. The necktie hanging bow is the only tie not cut.

A great idea for a kitchen nook is a wreath made from tea bags and clothespins. If you are a tea drinker, you probably already have a drawer full of different tea bags. Once you've cut some cardboard into a donut, you can attach the clothespins and add the tea bags. This way guests can choose the kind of tea they want when they visit.

Another great kitchen wreath idea is the cookie cutter one. This is one you can make quickly without spending much money of supplies. All you need are a dozen star shaped cookie cutters, some paper clips, and tie twists. You arrange the cutters in a circle and secure them with the clips and ties. Adding sprigs of pine or holly and a ribbon to hang it, takes a few more minutes.

Wine lovers can get in on wreath making projects using the corks from discarded bottles. You'll need corks, wire, and little red or green jingle bells. Drilling the holes in the corks is the hardest part. As you string, alternate the corks and the bells. In no time you will have a great conversation piece you can hang in your dining room or over the bar.

You can spend a lot of money on custom made wreaths, or you can create them yourself. Not only will you save money, but you will impress your friends and family. You will also have a holiday decoration that expresses your own creativity and taste.
